The time was right for a new infusion of ethnic culture, not only on American shores but in the state of Ohio as well. The immigration of Italians to America between 1890 and 1930 was gauged roughly between 3-4 million … hard-working souls, desperate to escape poverty, conscription, and famine, flocked to our shores ~ looking for their share of the American Dream. They heard the streets of America were paved with gold … but they had no idea they were expected to do the paving.
These brave dreamers would establish their largest Ohio settlements in Cleveland and Columbus, and by the 1920’s there would be 60,000+ Italian immigrants living in the state of Ohio.
