Italian Culture and Beauty Times Two
St. Francis DeSales High School graduates share honors
as Queens of the 2018 Italian Heritage Summer Festival!
Lightning Strikes Twice
Donatella and Daniella Guanciale are twins with a mission … to keep their Italian cultural heritage alive! One of the many reasons they were elected the honor to serve as dual Queens for the inaugural year of the Italian Heritage Summer Festival at Coffman Park in Dublin, Ohio. Both girls were born December 29, 1997 and are currently 20 years old.
Donatella was an honor student at St. Francis DeSales High School, and belonged to a numerous student societies and councils. She was the recipient of several scholarship awards, including the Sons and Daughters of Italy, Columbus Lodge 2599, and the Grand Lodge of Ohio.
She was an athlete for the DeSales district, regional and State champion Volleyball teams for three years as a starter.
After graduation she matriculated to Holy Cross University in Worchester, Massechusetts, where she is now finishing her sophomore year, making excellent grades. Her curricula leans heavily on science and she hopes to have a career in the vast field of medicine.
A good student at St. Francis DeSales High School, Daniella also played varsity Volleyball. After graduation, she matriculated to Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. A very sports-oriented girl, she hopes to graduate in a sports-related major such as an agent or sports broadcaster.
In the Spring semester of 2018, Dani had the opportunity to study abroad for one semester and chose to study Arts and Sciences in Rome, Italy, which lasted from January to mid-May. She considers the experience an invaluable lesson!
Both girls exhibit the passion and dedication of our Italian forefathers and we’re proud to have them represent our Festival in the Dublin Fourth of July parade, as well as during the Festival’s run, July 13th, 14th and 15th. Grazie a tutti e due!
